Patrick Mahomes has high praise for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and worries Chiefs ahead of Super Bowl LIX

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a generational talent that’s on the conversation of the greatest players in NFL’s history due to his impressive career achievements that includes three Super Bowl MVPs and two league MVPs.

He’s made the Super Bowl five times and so far he has only lost once – to legendary quarterback Tom Brady, who beat Mahomes and the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV 31-9 in Tampa Bay, Florida – so his name has become synonymous with championships.

Next Sunday he’s looking to become the first quarterback to win three Super Bowls in a row and in order to do so, he will have to beat the Philadelphia Eagles that’s stacked on offense and include dynamic quarterback Jalen Hurts and superstar running back Saquon Barkley.

Mahomes has high praise for Hurts

Super Bowl LIX is a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, an exciting game that went down to the wire and saw the Chiefs get the victory 38-35. Even though the Eagles lost, Jalen Hurts had a very good game with 304 passing yards, 70 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Mahomes, on the other hand, also had four touchdowns with 182 passing yards and 76 rushing yards.

Hurts’ performance on that Super Bowl left a lasting impression on Mahomes and the Chiefs and the Kansas City quarterback expressed his admiration for his rival during an interview with NFL Films after he beat Hurts.

“I said it in my press conference, but if there were any doubters, there’s no more. Everybody thinks of him as a runner but the way he was able to throw the football, especially in a Super Bowl, it shows the talent that he has.” Mahomes mentioned.

“The way that he works, I expect to get better and better every year and I expect to play him in a lot of big games as my career goes on.” Mahomes added. Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle and one of the captains and leaders of the team, Chris Jones, also praised Hurts ability to keep his poise and show out his talent on the NFL’s biggest stage: the Super Bowl.

“He had the best performance in the Super Bowl that I’ve ever seen of a quarterback. Running the ball, throwing the ball, He balled out.” Jones said.
